Retreat Location
an historic location
The original 1875 home at 401 Oak Street was just four simple rooms with wood floors and an historic past. For more than 60 years before the town of Overbrook was established in 1886, the Santa Fe Trail crossed this area, and the original homesteader, J.B. Fairchild, co-founded this quaint little railway town on the plains. While both the trail and the tracks have long-since been abandoned, today Overbrook remains a small oasis on the prairie with many interesting stories to tell.

the transformation
The previous owner bought the house when it was condemned and about to be demolished. His renovations included adding a large kitchen, second bedroom, bath/laundry and garage in the back. His workmanship is a marvel.
In 2012 Cheryl Miller bought the home and continued the interior renovation and shaping the outside spaces. In 2014 she converted the two-car garage into the Wellness Center and began teaching Yoga and Senior Fitness. Next, she planted loads of fruit trees, installed stone pathways, and transformed the garden shed into the Bohemian Bunkhouse. Cheryl has truly shaped this little gem into a wellness retreat worthy of its historic distinction.
